Setting up

The exhibition halls are open for set-up of customer-built stands and fitting-out of system stands as of Sunday, 8 October 2017. The installation and decoration of the exhibition stands must be completed, at the latest, by 10.00 p.m. on the day before the Book Fair begins. Items which are not to remain on the stand must be removed and all people must leave the exhibition site by midnight, as the police will then carry out a final security check.

When can you set up your stand?

  • Sunday, 8 October: 7.00 a.m. - 10.00 p.m.
  • Monday, 9 October: 7.00 a.m. - 10.00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, 10 October: 7.00 a.m. - 10.00 p.m.

Exhibitors and those assigned to set up the stands. Setup and dismantling passes will have been delivered together with the service set. The access to the exhibition site is possible with your exhibitor's pass as of 8 October 2017.

Early access
You may access the exhibition site prior to Sunday, 8 October 2017, if:

  • you are an exhibitor with a custom-designed stand that exceeds 40 sqm
  • you have applied for access before 1 August 2017
  • you have paid the entry fee
  • you have then received special permission from the Frankfurt Book Fair.

Drive in

  • you can order a drive in-voucher online in advance at Frankfurt Fair to save time at the gateway.

Instructions for the delivery of items to the book fair. Exhibit items can be delivered to the stand by a forwarding agent, courier service or the postal services during the set-up times as given above. Please arrange delivery times directly with the company you have contracted, i.e. for when you will be on your stand to take delivery of such items.

All deliveries to your stand must be clearly addressed as follows:

Please do not under any circumstances address your items to the office address of the Frankfurt Book Fair!

Forwarding agent

The official forwarding agent of the Frankfurt Book Fair. Official forwarding agent of the Frankfurt Book Fair is Panalpina Welttransport GmbH whose address you can find below. Panalpina sends the necessary documents on request. As it is in your own interest to ensure that transport goes smoothly, please ensure that you follow their instructions to the letter - if only to avoid problems with strict customs controls for trade fair goods. The international subsidiaries of Panalpina prepare group shipments to Frankfurt from several countries. If you are interested, please get in touch with the companies listed by Panalpina in their information packages.

Customs clearance of items sent through the post is complicated and we strongly advise against using postal services. If postal dispatch is unavoidable, please send a pro forma invoice to your forwarding agent stating the total number of parcels, so that the agent can clear your parcels at the postal customs office and store them until the Book Fair. However, this is only possible if they have been properly franked. This also applies to express rail consignments. Unfranked items will not be delivered by the freight forwarding agents. Urgent overseas parcels are best sent by air freight. Please note that there are special rates for books.

Traffic regulations

Please do not block the aisles during set-up and dismantling - packages or stand constructions in the aisles hinder the laying of gangway carpeting and the delivery of service companies. Fire extinguishers and hydrants must not be blocked under any circumstances.

The Frankfurt Book Fair ends at 5.30 p.m. on Sunday, 15 October 2017.
All stands must remain occupied until that time!

The following actions are not permitted before 5.30 p.m. and will incur a penalty:

  • dismantling of stands
  • packing of exhibits
  • delivery of packing materials


  • At the end of the fair, the aisle carpets will be removed in all the halls at the same time. (For this reason, please ensure you keep the aisles free!)
  • The rolling doors to the halls will then be opened, and the delivery of packing materials can begin.
  • Within your stand area, you can already start packing at 5.30 p.m.

Increased risk of theft
Hand over your boxes personally to the assigned service companies or freight forwarders. Throughout the dismantling phase there is a heightened risk of theft!

When can you dismantle your stand?

  • From approx. 6.00 p.m. on Sunday, 15 October 2017, throughout the night and the next day, until midnight, on Monday, 16 October 2017.
  • During this period all the exhibition halls remain open.
  • It is possible to leave the exhibition site through any of the gates, at any time.
  • An extension of the dismantling time is possible for custom-built stands that exceed 40 sqm, provided you have applied for this and received approval from the exhibition management.
  • Bench cabinets should be emptied completely by the Sunday evening, at the latest by Monday morning (16 October 2017). From midday they will be emptied by our cleaning staff, and their contents disposed of.
